OpenPeak OpenFrame home information system ready for production
August 21st, 2008OpenPeak is an IP telephony company which is about to produce what looks like a home information system integrating a phone application with a cloned iPhone interface.
The OpenFrame is intended to modernize use of home telephones and answering machines.
OpenPeak says:
“It is meant to replace the home phone, which has been left behind by technology. So you get VoIP capabilities, internet and normal calling capabilities and the phone can also be used as a digital picture frame, or a device to listen to internet radio.”
The device uses Intel’s Atom processor and includes such applications as news, calendar and weather. It can also act as an internet radio and handle all communications around the home.
OpenPeak adds:
“One of the beauties of the product is that it is dynamic. It is really a blank screen of opportunity”
The interface seems to be largely based on that of the iPhone and even has an open application framework so third-party developers will be able to add further functions to it.
Expect prices around $250.
