Canon PowerShot A480 makes quick photos snappier
March 6th, 2009Among Canon’s recent wide-ranging product announcements was the Powerhot 480, aimed at simplifying the process of taking great basic snaps.
The new snapshot camera replaces the A470 with a new 10 megapixel model. The A480 is a redesign incorporating more intuitive operation. The body is 25% smaller than its predecessor and comes in four colours: silver, red, blue and black.
If you’re into megapixels the A480 comes with ten of them which Canon claims is enough to print at sizes up to A3+. This may be optimistic.
The camera has separate buttons for zoom, mode and playback so there’s a reduced chance of activating those functions accidentally.
Canon’s DIGIC III has already proved itself capable of delivering images of good quality with low noise levels and good colour reproduction. It also drives the face-detection technology built into the camera and capable of detecting up to nine faces and adjust focus, exposure and flash settings accordingly to get those skin tones just right.
In its press release Canon says:
“Whether you’re 7 years old or 70, the PowerShot A480 offers a great-value way to discover the fun of taking pictures. This camera brings Canon’s unrivalled image quality to its widest audience yet.”
