Drool all over the P-Per cell phone concept (pictures and video)

January 26th, 2008

The Chocolate Agency have designed a truly remarkable concept for a mobile phone that, visually anyway, could take on the dominance of the iPhone if ever produced. It’s made in such a way that it could be classified as a ‘green’ product as well as being technically ground-breaking and stunning to look at:

The design is based on an e-paper screen that wraps around the device and displays on both sides! It can also turn transparent so the display screen can be used as a view-finder in camera mode. The flexible haptic LED touchscreen makes up one of the four layers that comprise this phone. The printed circuit board, extruded polycarbonate, hypoallergenic and recycled titanium parts make up the rest. This is a highly sustainable combination and results in less materials usage. It also uses a heavy-metal-free Organic Radical battery.

We could expect to see some interesting user interface designs in a device that displays on both sides and can turn invisible! Combine that with n overall width of 7mm, 3 megapixel camera and a 2 minute recharge time and the iPhone doesn’t appear to look so hot any more.

Play the video below to see the P-Per phone in use and demonstrating it’s amazing screen technology that 2D images just can’t convey.

All they have to do now is make it and then screw it up with a ‘one provider per country’ distribution policy!
