Motorola bets on ZN200’s multimedia functions

August 15th, 2008

In addition to launching a slew of phones recently Motorola has also made available on its global web site the MOTO ZN200 multimedia slider phone. Previously only available in Brazil the ZN200 actually outshines Motorola’s more recent offerings in many key respects.

The phone is of the sliding body type with illuminated flush buttons and featuring chrome touches on the body edges and some details giving it a ‘premium’ look. The design is tipped off with metallic engravings on the back.

Features include:

  • Body type: slider
  • Data bands: GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Display: 1.9 inch TFT screen – 176 xs 20 pixels
  • Camera: 2 Megapixels
  • Zoom: digital, 8x
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB 2.0
  • Other features: Reproduction of Mp3 archives, FM radio, videos recording at 15-20 fps.
  • Internal memory: 30 MB
  • Expansion: microSD card slot (up to 2 GB)
  • Software: Music Player, CrystalTalk

Pressing the camera key launches ‘imaging mode’ and the only keys you need are then illuminated making it easy to capture video clips and still images. You can choose between three colours for the button highlighting.

CrystalTalk is a sound enhancement technology designed to enable you to hear conversations and be heard even in noisy environments.

This, however, does not compensate for the poor camera specification and it’s a pity Motorola didn’t upgrade the 2MP camera sensor before launching it world-wide. The sliding body isn’t of the best quality Motorola has come up with either.

The ZN200 is due to be released in Q3 this year.
