Worlds first OLED TV XEL-1 is 3mm thick! (pictures)
October 1st, 2007This is Sony’s new product line creating a whole new category of TV products. It’s called OLED for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Although OLED screens have been available since 2004 thay have only been viable for smaller sizes and so have been limited to mobile prodicts.
The model above is the 11 inch XEL-1 TV which will go on sale in Japan in December 2007. OLED is based upon electroluminescent organic materials and this allows a very thin design. It also has a very low power consumption so the XEL-1 has very good environmental credentials

The XEL-1 TV will reach the streets of Japan in december for £853 ($1,743, €1,225)
