Sony MDR-NC500D headphones promise to remove 99% background noise
March 30th, 2008Sony’s latest noise-canceling headphones, the MDR-NC500D, are now arriving in stores at prices to suit only the most ardent audiophile. They are said to remove 99% of ambient noise thanks to their ‘intelligent’ system.
The Sony headphones have a battery life of sixteen hours — enough for all but the longest long-haul flights — and if you supplement the integrated rechargeable batteries with a pair of AAs you can well get 28 hours out of them.
The basic specs are:
- Frequency range: 5Hz to 24kHz
- Imepdance: 40Ω
- Power Output: up to 100mW
- Sensitivity: 102dB/mW
- Weight: 195g
The Sony MDR-NC500D headphones are already on sale at a price of around $400 (€253).
