The Aqualia Lamp by Alliance Optotek: AnglePoise for the 21st Century
Anyone over forty will be farmiliar with the AnglePoise lamps that used to bedeck our Grandfather’s desks — those clever, spider-legged contraptions of infinite adjustment and that stayed where you put them. Problem was they looked so utilitarian and on any modern desk — very low tech. The Aquilia lamp changes all that with the flexibility of the old fittings and the good looks and energy efficiency that modern life demands.

Illumination is provided by twelve LEDs of sufficient power for any desk task. No UV or IR radiation is produced and the LEDs are flicker-free. They can be dimmed from 0% to 100% though efficiency is compromised if you do this. They are also rated for 50,000+ hours of continuous use — that’s about five years and eight and a half months! Power consumption is only 16 watts at with no dimming.

The LED’s are mounted into a half-meter tall aluminium housing which can be adjusted to your preference. When the housing is folded up into it’s minimal configuration the LED’s are automatically dimmed to night-light brightness.
No pricing has been announced yet but likely price levels are around £102 ($200, €135)
