Undertow is FREE until Sunday: compensation for poor XBox Live service
January 24th, 2008In what appears to be a gesture of contrition Microsoft is offering a free game “Undertow” to gamers unable to access their gaming service. Problems experienced included:
- Unreliable connections
- Being kicked of games
- Inability to log in
You may have experienced the above if you were playing multiplayer games such as Call of Duty or Halo in the last few days of 2007, though these seem to have been sorted out now.
Until Sunday 27th January 11:59 pm PST (Monday 7.59 am GMT) Silver and Gold members can download Undertow for XBox Live for free — a saving of 800 MS Points ($10).
Undertow is an underwater race game in a 2D environment (although the images are 3D-modeled) in which you must fight or shoot opponents in order to reach a number of base-locations scattered around the course. Three race courses are included and your class can be upgraded at the end of every game in which you score points.
A nice little distraction until you get bored with it but no compensation for not being able to play Halo!
