Kevin likes the design and finish of the Vaio FW and compares it’s appearance to sculptured bonnet of an expensive car and decides that the FW is much easier on the eyes than the ThinkPad he uses every day.

Like the Toshiba Qosmio we reviewed recently the Vaio FW is targeted at movie watchers and gamers but unlike Toshiba, Sony attempts to enhance the experience by using a profile ratio very close to the 1920 x 1080 of true HD recordings. This allows a Blu-Ray movie to be watched without those annoying black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

The Centrino 2 platform delivered impressive performance as you might expect in a machine aimed at movie-watching and gaming.

Battery life suffered as with the Qosmio barely allowing a HD movie to be watched and safely shut down.
