Panasonic F8 Toughbook claims it is ‘lightest 3G Notebook’

Panasonic has today added the F8 to its range of ‘Toughbook’ rugged laptops which it claims is the world’s lightest 3G-ready notebook at 3.7 pounds.

The Toughbook range of laptop models have historically come with the following rugged features:

  • Magnesium alloy chassis
  • Spill-resistant keyboard
  • Flexible internal connectors

Thesse machines are designed to survive a fall of 12 inches (30 inches for the hard drive) as well as 6-ounce spills and 220lbs pressure on the lid.

The F8 isn’t short on power sporting an Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram (max) and a 160GB shock-mounted hard drive. Its connectivity options include 802.11n WiFi, bluetooth and Gobi 3G.

In addition to the F8 launch the current W7 and T7 tablet will be bumped up to W8 and T8.

All three new systems will be available in November 2008.
