Waterfall Audio Speakers have floating drivers

December 17th, 2007

These spectacular-looking speakers are made of special glass which allows the drivers to look as if they are floating about a meter above the floor. The models shown are the Victoria EVO design and will set you back a cool £2,672 ($5,400, €3,750).

The Victoria EVO is at three-way/four-driver design and includes Waterfall’s proprietary, downfiring, 8.5″ passive woofer. The Iguasçu EVO employs identical drivers (including the passive woofer) in a two-way/three-driver arrangement.

The 40″ tall solid glass enclosures feature Atohm drivers and “stretched” wiring to retain their clean look. Waterfall Audio states that they are using an “Acoustic Damping Tube” for, “near-total damping of mid- and low-frequency ‘back-wave’ artifacts, and precise damping control of midrange reflections, allowing the speakers to produce superbly accurate, high-end performance within their effectively undamped glass enclosures.”

They will be available in February 2008.

  • Very intersting and very neato if one can afford it and it does deliver sound quality. I believe that Pioneer had a 4 way HPM-100 speaker made of glass or perhaps lucite. I do not know if it was made like that just to show off the internal build of the speakers or whether they actually ever sold models of these units.
